FAQs

Common questions about EICR certificates, electrical inspections, and what to expect.

Yes. An electrical safety condition report is commonly called an Electrical Installation Condition Report, or EICR. It records the condition of your property’s fixed electrical installation and identifies defects or issues requiring further investigation.
A qualified electrician inspects and tests your fixed electrical installation, including the consumer unit, wiring, sockets, switches, lighting, earthing and bonding. Your report records the findings, any limitations to the inspection and recommended action.
Our EICR prices are £65 for a studio, £119 for a 1–2 bedroom property, £129 for 3–4 bedrooms and £139 for 5–6 bedrooms. Each additional consumer unit costs £70. All prices include VAT, and you pay after the inspection.
Your report is ready on the day of your inspection and released once payment has been received. You pay after the inspection, rather than upfront when booking.
An unsatisfactory report means issues have been identified that require remedial work or further investigation. The report records these findings so you can discuss the necessary next steps with a qualified electrician.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), also known as a Homebuyer’s Test or Electrical Safety Test, is a detailed inspection of a property’s electrical systems. It identifies any hazards, wear, or defects that could pose a risk. According to Electric Safety First, around 20,000 electrical fires occur in the UK each year, mostly caused by electrical products, with a smaller percentage due to faulty wiring.
